Patriots Match Best Winning Streak From Brady Era with Triumph Against Jets
First-year player Henderson has scored five TDs in the present year
The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak from the Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the team in 2019
Quarterback Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
The triumph extends the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The visitors had taken the lead at their home field with QB Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's initial series
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the triumph
