Peacemaker Season 2 Last Episode to Fix Significant Fan Complaint, Showrunner Gunn Announces
While audience feedback for Peacemaker the latest season has been largely favorable, with fans and critics applauding the acting and plot—despite the fact that the major revelation in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a surprise—one critique has only grown stronger as the season continues: dwindling runtime lengths.
In recent weeks, viewers have expressed disappointment over the significantly reduced runtimes in season 2, and indeed, the installments have been getting shorter and shorter. Episode 7, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (not counting the recap, opening credits, and closing credits), marking the briefest installment yet.
You'll be happy to know the upcoming finale is over 57 minutes long.
Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss James Gunn stated via social media, replying to a viewer's concern.
Despite this news, it's unknown what portion of the runtime will be actual new footage, uncluttered by intro and outro segments, or summaries of past episodes. However, should the episode contains all the previously mentioned non-essential content, that would still allow for between 45 and 50 minutes for the concluding episode, which is a big upgrade after episode 7.
The director earlier teased that the last episode would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the greater DCU at large will be heading and serve as a kind of precursor for the next Superman movie. Considering the brief appearance of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, fans expect a juicy cameo to conclude the show.
Peacemaker's finale, episode 8, is called "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to find out if viewer theories are proven correct.
