US Military Executes Deadly Strike in Eastern Pacific, Resulting in 4 Fatalities

As stated by a senior military spokesperson, the American armed forces carried out a lethal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, killing four people.

“A US joint task force conducted a deadly attack on a craft operated by a terrorist group in international waters. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was traveling along a established narco-trafficking route and was involved in narco-trafficking operations. A total of four male drug traffickers were eliminated, and no US military forces were injured.”

Background and Prior Strikes

This announcement follows a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the US president accused Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, vowing to increase the military buildup.

Only on the previous day, US defense officials stated it had carried out strikes on three boats suspected of smuggling narcotics in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, more than 20 military engagements have killed at least 99 individuals, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Defends Actions Amidst Scrutiny

The government has faced growing pressure to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. However, officials have refused to do so. The administration has supported its campaign as a success, arguing it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is stretching the limits of legal military action.

While the administration has stated the campaign is about halting drugs destined for the US, remarks from a top official seemed to confirm a broader political aim. In a recent interview, the senior advisor said the leader “wants to keep on destroying vessels until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the military campaign may be part of a push to oust Venezuela's current government.
